We’re excited to share a new review of the Cary Audio DMS-800PV Network Audio Player from Frank Picarello at Future Audiophile.
The review explores what makes the DMS-800PV such a special digital source, from its fully balanced dual-mono design and dual AKM AK4499 DACs to its 14 independent regulated power supplies. During his listening sessions, he praised the DMS-800PV’s ability to reproduce instruments and vocals with convincing texture, presence, and harmonic weight. Whether listening to Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Counting Crows, or Steely Dan, he consistently found that the DMS-800PV preserved the emotion of the performance while maintaining clarity, separation, and control.
Perhaps the best summary of the DMS-800PV is Picarello’s description of its ability to give digital music “body and soul.” Rather than sounding sterile or overly analytical, it delivers a natural and emotionally engaging presentation that allows the listener to stop thinking about the equipment and simply enjoy the music.
